Mary Brownlee spent Summer 2021 as an Intern at the Riverview Health Foundation. Riverview Health Foundation is a non-profit organization that creates meaningful charitable opportunities in support of Riverview Health to advance the community’s health and quality of life now and in the future. As the Foundation Intern, Mary accomplished goals she had set for herself before beginning the internship. She prepared events, met with members of various departments and experience firsthand what it looks like to run a 501c3. A few of the major projects that she completed were reconnecting with past Hamilton County School graduates to whom the Foundation had presented scholarships, helping to execute the annual golf outing, present at a Scholarship breakfast, and assist with the planning process for the Women of Vision luncheon. Mary was also able to assist in their marketing department, she was able to learn by sitting down with the marketing team and hearing their brand guidelines, thought processes, and the why behind the ways Riverview markets. The most enjoyable and exciting part of her internship was the chance to visit non-profits in the community and learn about their missions. She is grateful for their ability to provide such an incredible hands-on learning opportunities. She now has a better understanding of the enormous task of running a non-profit is, but also how rewarding it can be.
