LPH Hosts Fall COM 1100 Speech Contest

On Wednesday, March 20, Lambda Pi Eta (LPH) hosted the semiannual COM 1100 Speech Contest. Professor Denise Corr organized the event that counted for Intellectual Wellness WELLCore credit.

Earlier in the semester, COM 1100 instructors selected students from their classes to present in a semi-final round. From that round, six students advanced to the final round held in the Ayers Conference Room.

Dylan Hilburn won first place with his speech “Anterior Mid-Cingulate Cortex Effects on Will Power & the Desire to Live”

Daniella Flom won second place with her speech “The Effects of Agent Orange”

Kate Kelly won third place for “The Impact of Buffy the Vampire Slayer”

Other finalists include Ezra Biggs, Emma Bowman, and Caroline Wise.

Lambda Pi Eta President, Olivia Crimivaroli, served as Emcee for the event. LPH members, Laney Deffendoll and MJ Gabriel helped judge preliminary rounds.

Speech & Debate Team members Ryleigh Green, and Lydia Alvarnaz (winner of the contest last year) judged the final round along with debate coach, Jace Wilder.
