On Wednesday, March 29th, Lambda Pi Eta (LPH) hosted the semiannual Speech Contest.

Earlier in the semester, COM 1100 and HON 1130 instructors selected students from their classes to present in a semi-final round. From that round, six students advanced to the final round held in the Janet Ayers Conference Room:

  • Kiara Mullins | Dr. Pepper: History of the “Authentic Blend of 23 Flavors”
  • Paige Hill | Welcome to Smashville!
  • Katherine Wise | Harriet Burns: The First Female Imagineer
  • Samantha Rondash | The Myth of Pandora’s Box
  • Logan Ford | Male Birth Control
  • Rocco Greco | How We Can Stop Impending Doom

Lambda Pi Eta member Evelyn Shrader served as Master of Ceremonies for the event, and Speech & Debate Team varsity members Luke Litz and Alisa Osborne judged. Alumna and volunteer Speech & Debate Coach, Emma Johansson also judged.

Katherine Wise placed first, Rocco Greco placed second, and Samantha Rondash placed third.

Contest organizer Denise Corr began the evening with a special tribute to Professor Yvonne Bland who unexpectedly passed away earlier this spring.
