We had a great conversation during our Bus trip from the Rio Airport to our Hotel.

What are some of your first thoughts of Brazil?

Junior Lauren Thompson – “It’s a stark contrast between where we will be staying and what we just drove by… just around the corner is kind of like the slums.”

Junior Madison Blevins – “It’s sad and humbling to see areas that look like unfinished construction but it’s these people’s homes where they eat and sleep. I’m so excited to get to be here and help where we can.”

Sophomore Sierra Jones – “You can tell there is a lot of contamination… Seeing people walk on the highway… You can sort of smell it in the air.”

Junior Frankie Joubran– “People think coming to Rio is so beautiful and so awesome but when you’re here, it’s mind blowing how different it is when your task is mission work compared to vacationing… I think it’s going to be a completely awesome experience to interact with the people who live in these homes.”
