Silent No Longer Tennessee Marketing Intern

Silent No Longer is a grassroots organization founded by sexual assault survivors and allies who are passionate about helping those in our committees who have also been touched by sexual violence.  Our mission is to support, empower and advocate for sexual assault survivors through the creation of safe spaces for survivors to share their story in creative ways, to provide survivors, allies and advocates the skills required to organize and advocate for themselves and others, and to dismantle stereotypes and erode the systemic causes of sexual violence through awareness, education and the legislative process.  You can learn more about us at our website, www.silentnolongertn.org.

Purpose: 
To assist Silent No Longer Tennessee’s in continuing and expanding its mission to provide programs and services through targeted awareness campaigns, messaging, collaborations and private sector relationships.
This is a non paid volunteer position

Reports to:
Executive Director

Responsibilities and duties:

  • Represent our mission, values and beliefs wherever you go
  • Keep internal information confidential
  • Following rules and guidelines of the volunteer role at all times
  • Complete all tasks assigned in a timely manner and report any conflicts or inability to work a shift to your supervisor in a timely manner
  • Identify potential sponsors and develop messaging strategy and proposal presentation
  • Develop written and visual messaging strategy for programs and events
  • Review, edit and/or design brochures, flyers, posters and videos for both general and specific Silent No Longer TN topic and events
  • Organize photos and videos into relevant categories for easy reference and retrieval
  • Collaborate with volunteer photographers, videographers and graphic designers to ensure media needs for projects are available

Time commitment:
This is a 4-month position, with the option to continue for as long as you wish, 5-7 hours per week. Interns will need to record their time through our Homebase account.

  • High energy, confident and possess an ability to talk to and connect with people from various backgrounds
  • Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, board members, volunteers, donors, program participants, and other supporters.
  • Highly dependable and productive individual who has the ability to able to work independently and remain on task
  • Imaginative
  • Strong written and verbal skills

Qualifications

  • A solid understanding and commitment to our mission
  • A minimum of one year experience in creating marketing strategies and proposals

Benefit to intern:
As a marketing intern you will have the opportunity to learn more about sexual violence how they intersect with other social justice issues.  You will have the satisfaction of knowing you are helping to educate communities and providing valuable information to victims and survivors of sexual violence. You will have hands-on experience using what you have learned to develop strategies and campaigns, see how those strategies are perceived and the success level of the campaigns. This is an unpaid internship for course credit only. Upon completion of your 4 months, we will provide you with a letter of reference, and you will be on our preferred candidate list for any upcoming job positions.
