Event Planning Intern – HIKE-A-THON

TennGreen Land Conservancy is looking for assistance with the marketing and publicity for a new fundraising event, the 2021 Hike-a-Thon.

This event will celebrate the great outdoors and raise much-needed funds for conservation by connecting participants with nature and awarding outstanding prizes to individuals and teams who hike the most miles during the month of June. There are several other prize categories for participants interested in hiking, paddling, cycling, and more.

The Hike-a-Thon is a new inclusive event offering equitable participation, opportunities for involvement statewide and beyond, and the ability to safely social distance while encouraging the development of healthy behaviors and a conservation ethic.

Through this peer-to-peer fundraising event, participants serve as active advocates for conservation by inviting their friends, family, and colleagues to support them in their endeavors. Unlike a one-day race or walk, the Hike-a-Thon is a month-long event—enabling people of all ages, locations, and abilities to “compete” for a good cause.

Organization

TennGreen Land Conservancy, formerly the Tennessee Parks & Greenways Foundation, is the oldest statewide land conservancy in Tennessee. Guided by our seven principals, our mission is to conserve land where people and nature can thrive. We envision large, connected natural areas that support diversity of life, inspire the appreciation of nature, and spark action to protect the water we drink, the air we breathe, and the land that sustains us all.
