Intern JOB DESCRIPTION 2019-2020

Blessed Earth Southeast seeks high school, college students and citizens interested in advancing the mission of Blessed Earth SE with the following internship opportunities. Internships are unpaid, unless otherwise specified and available for one-year commitments and/or summer, fall and spring semesters. The following internships allow for 4-10 hours work per week but may vary from week to week. Please send resume to heather@blessedearthtn.com.

Field Intern
o Assist with monthly projects related to stream and river restoration, stream
clean ups.
 Activities primarily occur in middle Tennessee, but some limited travel may be required.
 Activities require lifting, digging, and other hard labor.
 Interns should be in good physical shape.
o Assist with projects related to reforestation activities.
 Event planning
 Distributing and planting trees, tree giveaways, and tree maintenance events and projects

o Assist with Water Quality, Greenway Ecology, and other Blessed Earth SE events/workshops as necessary.
 Activities may include water quality, forest canopy sampling
 Data analysis
o Interns are required to provide monthly reporting for publication via website, and social media outlets (i.e. Facebook)

Policy Intern
o Research:
 Church youth groups and their leadership
 Church and other faith based sustainable policy/practices
 Forestry departments and businesses across the SE US.
o Help with planning and execution of 2020 Stewardship Conference

o Help plan and coordinate the faith community’s engagement in 2020 Conservation Education Day
o Write/Assist with Communications concerning Blessed Earth SE newsletter/website and social media

Marketing Intern
o Writing, reviewing and editing materials for Website and Social Networking updates
o Developing monthly newsletters
o Email and Website Articles
o Writing and distributing press releases
o Update and build statewide media list
o Recruit sponsors and supporters for Projects and other Events
 Development/Membership Intern.
o Research Prospective Members, Sponsors, Partners, and Supporters (i.e. church Database)
o Research Grant Opportunities and assist with Grant writing and/or application process.
o Data Entry and Reporting in
o Call members and prospective members to discuss current initiatives and giving opportunities

Opportunities for all interns:
● Attend and assist with planning for following events: Earth Day, Holiday Mixer and/or other Blessed Earth SE and environmental events
● Attend environmental meetings and report on discussion and outcomes
● Recruiting and supervising volunteers, including youth for a variety of projects
