PUBLICITY INTERN- WINTER 2021 / SPRING 2022

Are you interested in a career in entertainment publicity? We are looking for unique and passionate candidates to join the Shore Fire team for school credit. Candidates will likely be working remotely during their internship, supporting staff while gaining meaningful experience in the entertainment industry. The Publicity Intern will assist their team in all aspects of daily publicity duties including compiling daily press clips, maintaining and updating publicity resources, drafting press releases and more. Additionally we have an educational enrichment program which gives our interns a real world, hands-on experience of what it’s like to be a publicist. This is a wonderful opportunity to gain experience as part of a top entertainment PR firm and learn the inner workings of entertainment publicity. JOB RESPONSBILITIES INCLUDE

  • Drafting and preparing writing assignments including press releases, press notes and tour dates in mass email programs (Constant Contact & MaxBulk)
  • Daily press clip sweep of Google News Alert and client’s social media including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter
  • Press clip creation (PDF)
  • Create press report shells and data entry for clients
  • Media databases additions, media list tags and bounceback updates
  • Update Shore Fire press pages with clip links and additional assets
  • Update client’s press schedules and/or master schedule for multi-artist events
  • Attend staff meetings and intern enrichment programs as scheduled
  • Research / audits

EDUCATIONAL ENRICHMENT  INCLUDES

  • Regular check-ins with supervisors
  • Join the team on a minimum of one account. You will be on copy for all communication and on regular calls/Zooms pending scheduling so that you become familiar with the inner workings of a PR campaign.
  • Meeting with your supervisor on the pitching process from start to finish, pitching as directed.
  • You will be assigned a minimum of one press release or other writing assignment which you can use as a personal writing sample moving forward.
  • Sitting in on internal team meetings about project goals and note taking.
  • Receive a Shore Fire email address and are on cc for all-staff communications.
  • Attend weekly Shore Fire all-staff meetings on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays at 12:30pmET (depending on schedule). The majority of these are mandatory if they are scheduled during your work day. If you are not working but are available to join, you have the option and are welcome and encouraged to join voluntarily.
  • Circumstances and schedule permitting, you may be invited to attend a concert and/or an on location media event.

ENRICHMENT PROGRAM INCLUDES

AMA (ASK ME ANYTHING) WITH SHORE FIRE STAFF/INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS 

Shore Fire hosts various 30 minute AMA sessions for our intern team as a learning/mentoring experience via Zoom. Guests have included Shore Fire staff, Billboard executives, social media managers, concert bookers, producers, promoters, venue owners and more.

Your participation is encouraged: this is a fantastic opportunity for a birds eye view at the inner workings of the music industry. The guests are a mix of our staff from different levels and backgrounds, and outside executives from various areas of the music industry.

ONE-ON-ONE RESUME REVIEW / CAREER GUIDANCE 

Your private counseling session with a Shore Fire team member will guide you on how to land an entry level job. Bring your resume to review and be ready to take notes on PR writing and networking tips for becoming a PR professional.
