My name is Frank Fenwick. I am involved with a nonprofit founded by two recent Vanderbilt graduates called BrightPath Tutors that aims to close the K-12 achievement gap by rallying college students to provide free, one-on-one, virtual tutoring to students from low-income backgrounds. We are currently looking for more volunteers to join our team of 450 tutors, and so I am reaching out today in the hopes that you could help us spread the word.
We have found that our tutor volunteers are able to make a big difference for their students and have a great time doing so, so if you wouldn’t mind passing along the following information to your students – feel free to make edits as you wish – it’d be greatly appreciated! Additionally, if you have any questions about our organization or tutoring model, or simply want to connect, we’d love to meet over Zoom! Thanks and let us know.
BrightPath is looking for college-student volunteers to virtually tutor K-12 students from low-income backgrounds in Tennessee during the 2021 Fall Semester. From September up until Thanksgiving Break, tutors will meet virtually and one-on-one with a K-12 student on a recurring basis. As a trained volunteer, you have the opportunity to serve as a role model and help a student make real academic gains in a time of need in our education system – right from your dorm room!
If you’re interested in joining the movement and serving as a volunteer tutor for this program, you can sign up at http://brightpath.tutorfly.org/apply. If you want to learn more about the BrightPath organization, please visit http://brightpathtutors.org/about or read about their “gold standard” tutoring model in The Tennessean. And to reach out to BrightPath founders Brad or Sam in order to connect, ask any questions, and/or discuss launching a BrightPath chapter on your campus, please email bradley.gellman@vanderbilt.edu or samantha.margolis@vanderbilt.edu.
