Lambda Pi Eta Applications Now Open

Applications are now open for Belmont’s chapter of the National Honor Society, Lambda Pi Eta (LPH).

LPH is associated with the National Communication Association and has over 400 active chapters at four-year colleges and universities worldwide. Becoming an inducted member distinguishes you nationally alongside of other outstanding students in the field and enables you to be a part of an active chapter here on campus.

Along with being a good resume-builder, Belmont’s chapter of LPH, Psi Gamma, sponsors several communication-related events for the Belmont community. These include social events for majors and minors, convocation programs, and semi-annual speech contests for COM 1100. LPH can also sponsor student registration fees for networking events and conferences.

There are not regular meetings for this organization, but members are expected to attend the induction ceremony and to actively support the events sponsored by LPH throughout the year.

To be eligible for our upcoming induction, you must meet the following requirements:

  • be a Communication Studies, Corporate Communications, or Public Relations major
  • have 60 hours completed, overall (not including current courses)
  • have 12 hours completed in COM or PRL courses (not including current courses)
  • have a 3.25 GPA in your COM/PRL major or minor
  • have a 3.0 GPA overall

If you are eligible for induction and would like to become a member, please complete this form.

You will also need to submit your one-time dues of $45 (cash or check made out to Belmont University) which covers the cost of your certificate, pin, and honor cords.  You may drop the payment by JAAC 2109.  In light of our current socially-distant circumstances, you may also Venmo at @MaryCliffVaughn. If paying the dues is a financial hardship for you, please let Dr. Vaughn know. Do not let dues be a reason not to apply for induction.

Please submit your dues and application no later than Friday September 4 at noon.

Our virtual Induction Ceremony will be held Thursday, October 1 at 6:30 p.m. (details to follow from our LPH President, Megan Montgomery).  Family and friends are welcome to attend. We also plan to have an in-person reception on the spring.

Finally, we are looking for two current juniors in the incoming class of inductees to serve as officers for LPH. As officers, you will help with planning and promotion of events, and you will serve as President and VP next year. If you are interested in serving as an officer, please email Dr. Vaughn.
