Club Highlight: Speech and Debate

The Belmont Speech and Debate Team has kicked February off with a great start! The first weekend of the month, two debaters headed to Knoxville to compete in the University of Tennessee IPDA debate tournament. Luke Litz was named third-place speaker in the junior-varsity debate division and Carly Crotty was crowned the overall top debate speaker in the novice division and novice tournament champion in the final round. Congratulations to these debaters!
Next, the entire team headed to Murray, Kentucky for a weekend competition. The team placed fifth in Debate, second overall on the first day, and first overall on the second day! Other noteworthy moments from the weekend include Deanna Medina making it to varsity quarter finals, Luke Litz making it to novice semi-finals, and Tyler Redmon making it to varsity semi-finals. Coming up on February 22 and 23, the team will defend their state title at the Tennessee Intercollegiate Forensics Invitational.
