Meet the Communications Clubs

Meet the Communications Clubs

By: Hamilton Sparks

Clubs and organizations are a crucial aspect of any college campus. They allow a space for students to meet new people, get to know their community, and grow their education outside of the classroom. Our Communication Studies Department is proud to support three outstanding clubs that allow students to develop professionally, grow their communication knowledge, and network with other students and professionals.

Speech and Debate

The Belmont Speech and Debate Team offers students the opportunity to compete in a variety of speaking events including debate, persuasive speaking, and dramatic performance. Over the years, many participants have been honored for their success in both state and national tournaments placing or winning their events. Team members compete as individuals but collectively earn points for our team which currently holds the title of Tennessee Intercollegiate Forensics Association State Champions. The team will defend its title at their upcoming tournament in February. Good luck Speech and Debate! @belmontspeechanddebate

International Association of Business Communicators (IABC)

IABC is a national organization of which Belmont hosts a chapter. The common goal of this group is to promote excellence in the field of communication and help connect students to professionals in the field. IABC strives to ensure every student in the Communication Studies Department is exposed to various job opportunities and understands their potential as a communications major. Be on the lookout for upcoming IABC-hosted events that are often open to the entire department! For more information on how to join go here @belmontiabc
