The public relations department at Hearst Magazines is currently seeking Spring 2018 interns who will
assist in promoting the company’s titles, which include Cosmopolitan, ELLE, Esquire, Harper’s Bazaar,
Marie Claire, and Good Housekeeping.
Duties will include assisting with implementing media strategies, creating and updating media reports
and lists, creating press reports, contact with the media, and basic administrative work. In addition, the
intern will assist with publicity at magazine events and will attend departmental meetings and
brainstorm sessions for the brands.
This internship is for academic credit only and is unpaid; please confirm that you are able to receive
academic credit for an internship before applying.
Preferred candidates should have a Communications, Media, Journalism or English major. Must be
enthusiastic, hard-working, and willing to learn.
Candidates must be able to devote at least two full days (9 am – 5 pm) per week to this internship.

Intern Responsibilities:
• Learn how the department utilizes Cision Media Resource to create local and national print, online and
broadcast media lists
• Develop research skills by observing how we monitoring media coverage and create press reports
• Learn how we write pitch letters and blogger blasts to promote our magazines
• Assist our teams at magazine events
• Attend our PR department meetings/brainstorming sessions
• Have the opportunity to attend TV segment tapings or live interviews for our magazines
• Have one-on-one meetings with members of our team
