Position: Operations and Communications Manager

Responsibilities and Requirements:
Tennessee Conservation Voters (TCV) is a 501(c)4 nonprofit organization located in Nashville,
TN. We are dedicated to the protection of Tennessee’s environment and natural resources
through effective legislation and administrative advocacy. TCV is a statewide, nonpartisan
organization and a state affiliate of the national League of Conservation Voters (https://www.lcv.org/). We coordinate closely with the Tennessee Conservation Voters Education Fund (TCVEF), a 501(c)3 organization, and the Conservation Action PAC of Tennessee. Tennessee Conservation Voters is looking for an Operations and Communications Manager for a part-time (variable twenty-hour per week), non-exempt position. Some weeks may require more than 20 hours while other weeks will consist of fewer hours. The position requires a high degree of initiative, ability to work independently, excellent communication skills, experience with social media, and experience or willingness to learn how to manage a communications database (EveryAction). The Operations and Communications Manager works directly with the Board of Directors for both TCV and TCVEF and the lobbyist.

Critical Roles include:

  • While the primary work of this position is to support TCV, the position will also support
    the Tennessee Conservation Voters Education Fund and the Conservation Action PAC of
    Tennessee.
  • Communications and Publicity: manage, track, and expand a communications database
    (EveryAction); transform lobbyist reports into action alerts and distribute through
    EveryAction and social media; manage and update website; communicate with Board of
    Directors, lobbyist, League of Conservation Voters, member organizations, and other
    professionals related to environmental protection.
  • Operations: manage mail and correspondence, coordinate funds received with treasurer,
    attend monthly board meetings and special events, assist Board presidents to prepare for
    meetings and other activities, work with the Boards to maintain records and documents,
    assist with compliance reports required of (c)4, (c)3, and PAC organizations.
  • Fundraising: assist with annual fundraising event and other development activities.
  • Organizational development: attend local, regional, state, and national meetings,
    conferences, and educational events as assigned.

The Ideal Candidate will have the following qualities:

  • Interest in environmental legislation and policy.
  • Microsoft Office Suite skills proficiency.
  • Comfortable with technology and social networks/marketing (e.g., Facebook, Instagram,
    Twitter).
  • Experience with database management.
  • Detail oriented, with an ability to prioritize and move projects forward while working on
    several projects simultaneously.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Energetic and able to promote our mission to others.
  • Problem solver and innovative thinker.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Experience working for other non-profits (including volunteer and/or internship capacity)
    preferred.
