- Active college student who has completed a minimum of two years of college are eligible.
- Recent college graduates and students enrolled in a Masters or Doctoral program are also eligible.
- Active fulltime BCBST employees are not eligible to participate in the program.

Skills/Certifications
- Able to prioritize, work independently, and effectively manage time and resources.
- Effective communication skills: written and verbal.

- Appropriate decision making skills required.
The public affairs intern will support efforts to position, promote and protect the company’s reputation as part of the corporate communications department. Primary responsibilities will include supporting media relations, brand journalism and social media engagement.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Produce written communications that demonstrate a good understanding of professional writing principles and requirements
- Participate in strategic and creative processes for a variety of materials and channels from concept to final execution
- Write clear and concise content that meets the stated brand intents and objectives
- Support social media monitoring, content scheduling and reporting
- Research clients, competitors, current topics, etc. to ensure on-target messaging
- Quickly handle multiple assignments on tight deadlines while maintaining client satisfaction
- Estimate and manage time accurately
- Communicate and collaborate well with other team members
Job Qualifications
Education
- Preferably focused on Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Advertising or English.
Skills/Certifications
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Good interpersonal and organizational skills
- Must be a team player and have the ability to handle multiple projects
- Ability to work with minimal supervision or function in a team environment sharing responsibility, roles, and accountability
- Ability to write various forms of copy – in a variety of channels (articles, news releases, social media posts, reports, etc.)
- Meticulous attention to details
- Possess strong business ethics; be reliable and dependable
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Familiar with Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram
