The Sexual Assault Center, a nonprofit based in Nashville which provides healing for children, adults and families affected by sexual assault and is committed to ending sexual violence through counseling, education and advocacy, is seeking interns.
The Special Events Internship is offered to students who have an interest in event planning and nonprofit development. The intern will gain knowledge of planning and executing an event, including developing sponsorship, soliciting in-kind donations, working with vendors & participants, recruiting special event volunteers and organizing event logistics. They will also learn about marketing and communications within a nonprofit. The Special Events Intern will work directly with and report to the Event Coordinator and Communications Specialist. This internship will be from June- September. This is a paid internship with a stipend pay.
Responsibilities
- Work under the supervision of the Event Coordinator and Communications Specialist – Focus will be given to our annual event: Mad Hatter Gala.
- Solicit and secure in-kind donations for prizes and event day needs
- Communicate event details and fundraising information to participants through telephone calls and emails
- Recruit new participants through community events, corporate calls, athletic groups, social media and much more.
- Cultivate relationships with current donors and event participants through fundraising and outreach calls and emails
- Assist with volunteer coordination of events
- Other administrative duties
Work with Event Coordinator and Communication Specialist on daily social media posts – Attend occasional special event committee meetings and special events (when possible)
Requirements
- Experience or interest in sexual assault prevention and supporting survivors of sexual violence
- Experience or interest in event marketing
- Enthusiasm to learn and a team player
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills – Detail oriented, willing to learn, ability to meet deadlines and attention to detail
