In the fall, Lambda Pi Eta sponsored the semi-annual COM 1100 Speech Contest. The finalists were (L to R) Armen Mailyan, Zack Biss, Alyssa Newton, Jeanette Porcello, Shelby Gebb, and Olivia Jones. Alyssa Newton came in first place with her speech entitled “Spoiler Alert,” Olivia Jones came in second place with her speech on The Atomic Bombing on Hiroshima, and Shelby Gebb came in third place with her speech on Roswell, New Mexico. The spring contest is coming up Wednesday, March 29 at 6:00 p.m. in McWhorter 110. Contact Dr. Vaughn if you’re interested in helping with the event!
