Belmont University’s Institute for Innovative Faith-Based Leadership to be Named in Honor of Reverend Charlie Curb

Long-time Belmont supporter and music business leader Mike Curb and his wife Linda recently made possible a $2 million endowment to rename Belmont’s Institute for Innovative Faith-Based Leadership as the Reverend Charlie Curb Center for Faith Leadership in honor of Mike Curb’s grandfather, Charlie McCloud Curb. Begun in June 2016, the Center was established to provide continuing education opportunities for pastors and leaders of faith-based organizations. The Center is focused on creating stronger leadership for local congregations and ministries.

Davis Cup in Nashville Brings Big Wins for Team USA and Belmont

U.S.A tennis plays hold the American Flag at the Davis Cup in the Curb Event Center

Team USA’s Jack Sock and Ryan Harrison fought off a determined effort from a resilient Belgian doubles team to put the U.S. through to the Davis Cup World Group Semifinals for the first time since 2012, defeating Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen, 5-7, 7-6(1), 7-6(3), 6-4, on Saturday to clinch a 3-0 victory for the U.S. The Quarterfinal tie was held on an indoor hard court at Belmont University’s Curb Event Center in Nashville. The U.S. team will travel to Croatia Sept. 14-16 for the Semifinals, marking the first time since 2012 the United States has made it to that stage of the Davis Cup competition.

Belmont Alumnus, Stoneman Douglas Teacher Speaks to Students on Campus

Initially planning to encourage education majors with a message about remaining in their chosen career path, Posada found himself sharing his story with students from across campus, reminding them to support teachers across the company in their classroom endeavors.

Belmont Women’s Basketball: Stronger Together

Belmont falls short to Duke 72-58 in Stegeman Coliseum in Athens, GA March 17, 2018.The Office of Communications (OC) traveled with Belmont’s Women’s Basketball team to Athens, Georgia for the first round of the NCAA Tournament where the Bruins took on the Duke University Blue Devils on Saturday, March 17. Seeking to learn more about the team, Head Coach Bart Brooks and the overall program, the OC members spent nearly 60 hours at the big dance.

President Bob Fisher Named CEO of the Year by Nashville Post

Detailing countless accomplishments since his arrival on campus in 2000, the Post’s feature story highlights the nearly 18 years Fisher has been President of the University including steady student enrollment growth from about 3,000 when he arrived to more than 8,000 today, an impressive student-to-teacher ratio and Belmont’s continued educational quality, among many other things.
