My name is Derek Price. I’m originally from Oley, Pennsylvania, and I came to Belmont in 2008 as a Music Business student. I eventually changed my major to Philosophy with a minor in German, and now I’m pursuing my interest in German culture by spending 9 months in Enkenbach-Alsenborn, a small town in southern Germany, just near the Black Forest.

While in Enkenbach-Alsenborn, I’ll be assistant-teaching an English class at a local high school. I’ll help students with homework and pronunciation in the classroom and through one-on-one tutoring. I’ll also assist with various projects, trips, and productions outside the classroom. During the length of my project, I will be staying with a host family, which will give me additional German practice. I’m looking forward to becoming part of a local community in a foreign country, improving my language skills, and getting an idea of what it’s like to teach in a classroom.
