The Belmont Criminal Law Journal is a student-run scholarly publication affiliated with Belmont University College of Law. The Belmont Criminal Law Journal serves to highlight scholarly work while offering case summaries, notes, articles, and multimedia content to educate students and practitioners in the area of criminal law. Founded in 2016, the Belmont Criminal Law Journal aims to provide a unique publication with a practitioner focus.

To that end, the Belmont Criminal Law Journal regularly publishes case comments on criminal law cases handed down from the Supreme Court of Tennessee. Our student editors work jointly with practitioners—whether those coming from prosecution, defense, the judiciary, or academia—to provide insight into Tennessee’s significant criminal law cases.

These case comments are published throughout the year on our blog, which can be accessed under the “TN Supreme Court Case Comments” tab at the top of the page, and are also printed annually in our journal each fall. The journal may also be found online via Westlaw, Lexis, and HeinOnline.

Each spring, the Belmont Criminal Law Journal hosts its annual symposium, addressing various issues in the criminal law field. Throughout the academic year, the Belmont Criminal Law Journal also hosts other events related to criminal law. Transcriptions of these events are printed in our journal and are available online.
